What a privilege to be here on the planet to contribute to such a unique donation to humankind was a statement on the lips of members from Islam at work foundation Uganda when they visited Mariam High School.
It was a bright morning on the 26th June 2020 at around 11:00 am when a team from Islam at work foundation was granted permission to perform one of its activities of tree planting by Mariam High School. The team arrived at the appointed time 1:00 pm and was welcomed by the Director of Studies Mr. Wamala Muhammed Albaaqi and the Head of Finance Madam Nakiganda Rashidah.
Briefly, Mariam High School is a community based muslim founded girls school located in Kisaasi 1km off Bukoto-Ntinda road. It is a boarding and day school that provides the best wholesome education to the girl child. With the motto “Education is light”, the school boosts of a wonderful vision of being a leading mulism girls’ school that produces an assertive exemplary lady with sound knowledge, attitude and Islamic values fit for competition in the dynamic global society. This is clearly seen in the product of girls that the school has mentored who are highly skilled, professional, unique and deeply rooted in Islamic values.
Mr. Wamala and Madam Rashidah expressed their appreciation with such sweet words
“It was a great opportunity for us since it was always our dream of creating a campus brimming with nature all over. Trees improve air quality through the process of photosynthesis where leaves absorb carbondioxde and any potential chemicals and breathe out fresh pure oxygen to the environment leaving our society safe and sound.
Since its a girls’ school, we thought that with Islam at Work Foundation planting trees at our school it would improve more on the appearance of our grounds making the campus more lovable by our girls, teachers and our parents plus any other guest who comes to our blessed campus”.
Rest assured the grounds of the school will be lovable and beautiful. As Allah’s messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said “There is none amongst the Muslims who plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person, or an animal eats from it but is regarded as a charitable gift from him”. It is our charitable act of continuing to plant trees in the community.
We are grateful to the school administration for allowing us fulfill one of our dear activities and also having them get involved in such an act. Remember, it takes greatness to lift someone else and indeed Mariam High have us soring.
May Allah accept this sadaqa from all of us
